May Update

Dear Art Now for Autism friends -

I have just returned from Art and Soul in Virginia where I enjoyed several days
of art making and learning new techniques. I gained a lot of ideas for Art Now
for Autism from a web/social media class with artist Claudine Hellmuth. I was
delighted to run into Elizabeth Woodford – one of Art Now’s participating
artists – during a vendor fair there. So nice to finally meet! I hope to meet
more of you in the future.

Over 20 artists have already committed to participating in this year’s exhibit!
A special thank you to Fabio Sassi, who has already submitted 5 pieces to this
year’s exhibit. You can see one on the Art Now blog at

Publicity! Publicity! Publicity!
Please help spread the word about this year’s exhibit. Here is a blurb that you

Sharing
Do you have an exhibit coming up? A favorite autism link or resource? Know an
artist with autism? Send me info and I will include it in the Art Now blog, web
site, and/or newsletter!

Long Term Planning
I am looking to make Art Now for Autism an official non-profit of its own. Right
now Art Now is operated on a not-for-profit basis with all money raised being
put towards Autism Speaks. I like the idea of creating our own entity so that we
could vary what autism charities/researchers receive the money raised from year
to year. Plus I would like to look into supporting art programs helping those on
the autism spectrum. Perhaps providing art supplies to these programs? Anyway,
if you would like to be involved in the forming of Art Now for Autism as a
non-profit, I am looking for a handful of people to be on the first board of
directors… It sounds so official! I believe that we can have our meetings as
conference calls so if you do not live close by, you can still be involved. If
interested, please shoot me an email including your experiences with autism,
art, non-profits, etc. that would be helpful as a board member or ideas you have
for Art Now for Autism’s future. I am hoping to begin the process over the
summer.
